The website for the cardiovascular division at Abbott Labs — cardiovascular.abbott — is a large-scale enterprise digital ecosphere that provides important information to healthcare professionals and patients about Abbott’s treatments and therapies. Redesigning and re-platforming cardiovascular.abbott was a multi-pronged initiative that demanded complex UX, UI and design solutions.

Problem

A large-scale redesign of enterprise websites requires balancing the needs of the brand, digital marketing, IT, and regulatory. Abbott needed to create and implement a new user experience that prioritized user needs while meeting their brand, marketing, functional, and logistical requirements.

Working collaboratively with the teams at Abbott Cardiovascular and Cimarron Winter, I designed the website’s implementation of the redesign, based on the new brand design platform. My role spanned across UX disciplines— IA, user experience, UI design, design system development and implementation, content strategy and creation, page design, and QA. I worked closely with the teams to style and implement the site’s design system including the creation of its first Figma library and component set. I designed and created the specs for multiple components in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), working closely with IT on front-end implementation. I designed the page models for the site and developed and designed content for key pages. And I continue to design and create new content, UI components, and user experiences on the site.
