Abbott Labs cardiovascular division wanted a dynamic, story-driven microsite that would engage people with atrial fibrillation. Using clear user flows to important information, straightforward written content, and engaging imagery and video, the afanswers.com website gives people with AFib information they need to make good decisions about their health.
Problem
Experiencing atrial fibrillation can be confusing and scary. People with AFib need information about the condition and treatments to help them make good decisions as they work with their doctors and care team. There are many ways to treat AFib, including cardiac ablation. Abbott needed an engaging online solution for patients that would help them understand what cardiac ablation is, what it can do, and to give patients an opportunity to hear about people who have had a cardiac ablation.

Site Build & Integration
Working with the teams at Abbott and Cimarron Winter, I created a design concept focused on solutions — the information and treatments that help people with AFib. The site is a guide for living your life with AFib — your life in sync. Based on Abbott’s brand story guidelines, we present information about Abbott’s pioneering technologies and treatments in a caring and accessible way. The content and imagery are straight-forward, persona, and focused.
The design system, also leveraging Abbott’s branding, was design to use calm, clean solid colors; confident lifestyle imagery of people living their lives; icons that make content easily found; a full-width, layout to best display images and video; and some dynamic interaction animations to engage users and drive clear flows through the site. After developing the prototypes and visual assets, I built the site on a platform with animated interaction options that integrated with the enterprise content management system.
