Minneapolis Parks Ecological System Plan Topics – Smart Hive

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO) are creating an ecological system plan for the parks and public lands in Minneapolis. The plan will create a vision for the environmental health of our parks and encompasses a wide variety of ecological topics, including:

  • Air Quality Issues
  • Biodiversity and Habitat Quality
  • Carbon Sequestration
  • Habitat Connectivity
  • Stormwater Runoff
  • Sustainable Energy Generation
  • Urban Heat Island Effect

This infographic is a public-facing illustration of the topics the parks face and is designed to engage the community, residents, partners, and others in discussions about ecology. The information gathered will be used to inform each of the topics in the ecological system plan.
