Making a decision can be difficult and it’s easy to get stuck in indecisiveness. So I made this flow chart of my best practice of how to make a decision. This works for any decision I have ever had to make and the steps can be scaleable and collaborative.
For instance, when I decided to found Smart Hive, I did a lot of talking with others as well as sitting with myself. There are so many opinions about whether you ought to go into business for yourself or whether you should work for a great brand internally. There is no right or wrong answer. And whenever that is the case, which is often, I find that I need a simple, yet expandable set of steps to go through to come to a decision.
The most important part of the process, though, is to act once you make a decision (see my Cult of Done manifesto poster). The power that comes from being decisive doesn’t last forever and you need to take advantage of that momentum while you’ve got it. Making a decision is taking an action and as we all know, motivation follows action.
